Mads Mikkelsen shared details of his new role in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. The actor confirmed on Friday that he’ll be playing Jyn Erso’s (Felicity Jones) father. It’s unclear if his character is a good guy or a classic villain in the making.
“Felicity Jones is playing this lovely young strong woman. I play her father, and…that’s too much, I’m sorry,” Mikkelson said during an on-air interview with Sky News.
The film’s first trailer released earlier this month revealed the rebels mission to steal the Death Star. It also offered a first look at Ben Mendelsohn’s white-caped charter, Forest Whitaker’s mysterious armored look and a glimpse at Donnie Yen, Jiang Wen, Genevieve O’Reilly‘s characters.
The film, directed by Gareth Edwards, also stars Diego Luna, Jiang Wen, Alan Tudyk and Riz Ahmed. Chris Weitz and Gary Whitta wrote the screenplay based on an idea by John Knoll.
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is set to hit theaters on December 16th.
